DEC 10 and 20 computers were used for complex engineering, Digital was manufacturing integrated circuits in Westboro and Worcester MA, producing ICs within the Components Group. The PDP had reached maturity, the VAX era had begun, and distributed computing was on the lips of every IT evangelist divining the future of computing.
The LSI-11 was Digital's adaptation of the PDP-11 implemented in a three chip solution. Later major accomplishments of Digital innovation included the Alpha computer, one of the fastest department level solvers ever built.
This poster was from the Americas' Cup Promotion touting the inclusion of LSI-11 based micro computers on-board three American Entries.

Ted Turner skippered the Courageous to take 4 out of 4 races against the Australian challenger "Australia" in Newport RI held September 1977 and win the cup. The race pitted Sun City Yacht Club against the winning New York Yacht Club
